Leaving the Department
Staff resigning from their post early must notify the Department (PI, Supervisor or admin team) of their revised leaving date giving a minimum of 4 weeks' notice unless otherwise stated in they contract of employment.
All leavers must complete the Online Leavers Form detailed below inputting their actual leaving date.
Resignation from employment
Unless the employment contract states otherwise, all staff are required to give four-weeks notice in writing to their PI/supervisor for research staff and Marita Walsh for assistant and academic-related staff.
Leavers form
The online leavers form must be completed and submitted by all staff, students and visitors who are due to finish their time in the department. This can be done on or before their leaving date and once submitted this will update the departmental records and ensure key personnel are notified. If there are questions/queries regarding the leaving process please contact Kathleen Pickett.
All staff, students and visitors are required to notify the department of any change to their leaving date by contacting their supervisor/line manager and Emma Graham for staff and visitors and Graduate Education for students.

Exit surveys
Prior to leaving the department please complete the relevant exit survey below:
- Researchers Exit Survey - Research staff are asked to complete this to help inform the department of their experience here in Chemistry.
- Professional Services Staff Exit Survey- Assistant, Academic related and Academic staff are asked to complete this to help inform the department of their experience here in Chemistry.
- Postgrad Exit Survey
University card return/deactivation
University cards must be returned to reception on or before the last day worked in the department. The card will be deactivated from the leaving date recorded on our department database. If staff leave before their contract end date or have an agreed extension the admin team (Emma Graham and Emma Solaas) need to be made aware of this so that department records are accurate. University cards remain the property of the University and expired cards must not be used and may be confiscated. Please see Information for cardholders.
